Think about the fact that some of the milita actually left the Bundy Ranch because they where afraid of a drone strike. They had an actual legitimate fear of being fired upon by a US Government drone. Just think about that.
The threat of a drone strike had a “chilling effect" on the right to assembly and free speech.
If you are doing illegal activities yes you should be afraid. They were not peacefully assembling and they were defending a thief.
People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.
As much as I thing Cliven Bundy’s case was the exact WRONG case for us to have hung our hat on, the fact that there were people legitimately worried about a drone strike (however remote the possibility) just goes to show how little the Constitution means today. We have a right to due process for a reason. You can NOT execute an American citizen without first convicting him/her. Even though some at the ranch acted like idiots, they did not pose enough of a threat to warrant deadly force.
The entire thing was a clusterf*ck.
Obama’s scandal list
- Fast and Furious
- IRS targeting Conservatives and Jews
- DOJ monitoring the AP
- Green energy “loans”
- Voter fraud
But I suppose the administration will just say “what difference does it make” and “that was a very long time ago.”
